Google AdWords on TV!
Yep, you got that right. Google AdWords just made a huge announcement in regards of TV advertisment. Apparently, now you can place Ads on any TV channel you want.
Well, first, you choose your target audience; then, you choose the networks, dayparts, and specific programs you want your ad to run on. Finally, you choose the cost-per-thousand impressions you’re willing to pay; and you actually pay after your ad airs on TV.
Cool, huh?
Of course, to place an ad on TV; you first need to have a TV ad; however, Google’s Ad Creation Marketplace provides you with the tools to connect with pros who will provide scripting, copywriting, editing, production and voiceovers for your ad.
Still not clear of how things work? Well, Google now provides anyone with a credit card and an internet connection to create a television commercial and monitor the success of their campaign using a simple online tool. Touche!
Now, is this going to be a successful move? or fail like how it did with Radio Advertisement?

Update 2: Prominent Saudi blogger Fouad Alfarhan was freed today. He is back home in Jeddah after 137 days in custody. Alfarhan was arrested on 10 December 2007 for unspecified “violation of non-security regulations.” ~ Global Voices

I did post something about Fouad Al-Farhan few months ago in regards of his arrest and how the Western press pressured The Saudi Gov’t to say something about it, which was: The minister of interior has just told Washington Post that it is “only interrogation and not an actual arrest. And hey that interrogation still going as in he is still in jail.
I did post a poll few months ago as well asking if the web-community will be able to pressure the Saudi Gov’t to release the blogger Fouad and the result was unsurprisingly accurate:
But now, his blog has been blocked today in Saudi Arabia, along with Freefouad website dedicated to Alfarhan’s case and the pro-reformist blog Freedoms.
On March 11th, 2008, his nine-year old daughter, Raghad, has released a YouTube video message for her father saying: “Daddy I miss you. When are you coming back home?”
Photography and I
Thanks to Abdu, he got me hooked into photography and here I am exploring flickr pictures.
I just came across this photo which I think is fantastic… Now, the question is, where can I grab such a thing in Qatar? Abdu claims that as long as the photographer has imagination/creativity? then even in desert - can come up with great ones….
hmm, even like this abdu?
China Internet Population surges - passes US users
Need another reason why US firms still try to jump into China-wagon despite the discrimination and law-issues they face with the Chinese Gov’t? Well, here it is:
According to the Beijing-based research firm BDA (in China) the new stats for internet users in China just jumped over 220 million users. yep! that is right… so with US 216 million users, that make China no.1 in number of Internet users.
But here is the catch: The Internet penetration in US remains higher as it is 71% while in China it is only 17%. But that also hints about the kind of potential there is in the Chinese Online market in the near future, which makes US firms / Internet companies go crazy over China.
And here is something I read in VentureBeat:
During its quarterly earnings call last week, Google spoke a lot about the large role of international growth in its recent success. Europe has so far been a big part of that, but the real prize that everyone is eyeing is China.
Google has been trying to outmaneuver leading Chinese search provider Baidu for access to those potential billion users. It even recently tried moving into the legally gray-area of searching for unlicensed music downloads.
Already the worldwide leader in mobile phone usage, China now has another technology bragging right as it prepares to host this summer’s Olympic games.
So yeah - if you are starting something then better think twice about where to start it from or what to focus it on.
But here is my two cents: Just cause the population of Internet users in China is higher that doesn’t mean the online cashflow will be higher in comparison to US / Europe online market…… tsk tsk… China remains poor country.
