New interesting things
I think I am going to start a new habit of summarzing of new services or technologies once a week or so… And here we go, will start from now!
- MSN Soapbox: Microsoft’s new video site launched in public beta today.. It is basically based on Flash, so if you don’t have flash or slow internet, then kiss that good bye.. As for the navigation of the site, it plainly sucks….I thought they will be coming up with Ajax based…but I guess not!
time to wake up Bill… - Parallels: Parallels just released a new version "RC" that allows you "mac guy" to run windows applications or whatever in Mac desktop, simulatneously with other mac applications.. And of course there are additional new features such as "Drag and Drop", and son… try it out!
- Gmail: Free for All! After three years of darn testing and screwing up user’s accounts or deleting them and of course making it sweeter..now Gmail is available for free sign-up across the world "almost I think"… And with that comes Gmail Fetcher, which sounds pretty good feature but not till you test it! Nothing works with that feature..Hope they fix it soon
- Ajax.Net: Microsoft has created a sample application that shows off their latest technology:
The demo utilizes several technologies including: IIS7, ASP.NET Ajax Extensions, Linq, Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Workflow Foundation, Windows Presentation Foundation, Windows Powershell, and the .NET Compact Framework.
Their first screencast shows life as a shopping cart user and has the usual ajax shopping cart features that we are used to now (dynamic update of amounts). The coming screencasts will show the backend views and will hopefully have some interesting Ajax use cases implemented. ~ Ajaxian.com
And you know what: .Net framework rules! and with the new ASP.NET Ajax extension, the world will flip… trust me on that…
- Nanabhay’s Blog: Since this is something new, though Mohamed says it is still under testing.. I would like to introduce you to Nanabhay’s new blog, which discusses issues and such regarding Technology and New Media… check it out..it looks cool so far..
That will be all for this release! Check us out next week! Good night!

Ok so if I don’t have Flash I can’t watch videos on Soapbox.
What if I don’t have flash, can I watch videos on YoutTube?
No. Dood, Flash Video is the standard. Did you want MS Soapbox to use Windows Media for user generated content?
