Macbook air & My Formatted Vista Machine for Leopard
Let me start by saying: I’ve always hated Vista. In fact, I cannot stand using Vista or Windows XP, and all of that started after I used Mac for 10 days.
Anyway, I just received my macbook air after long time of waiting for it to get delivered (25 days?).. And to be honest, when I ordered it, I wasn’t sure if it will be a good candidate to replace my macbook pro and become my primary machine.. But after configuring it, installing vmware fusion (centos distr. image), and working with it… it definitely beats my old macbook pro in many aspects.
Though it is slow than macbook pro, but honestly it is only slower by a second or two in processes, that’s all it is.
Anyway, at my home office I have (had!) Windows Intel machine with the following specs:
-Intel P965 with 2.4Ghz Quad (installing 2.66Ghz tonight)
- 1 Gig ram (installing 4 end of the week)
- Nvidia 7800
- Sata drives (3)
- Sata DVD drive
- Linksys Wireless N (didn’t work, getting another N adapter soon). Now I am u sing Linksys WAG111 G model
That is basically it.. And this is what I did to install Leopard on it, which works perfectly fine now:
1. Googled / Bittorrented Kalyway Leopard 10.5.1
2. Googled / Bittorrented Kalyway Leopard 10.5.2 Patch
3. Googled / osx86project.org driver for my Azalink sound driver
4. Googled / osx86project.org driver for my USBwirelessutility app
5. And that is it!
So yeah, it takes a bit of time to do some of research to find the drivers / utilities to activate your hardware but after that, it should be fairly easy.
Just pop in the burned image of kalyway after modifying your BIOS setup with changing things to AHCI and other stuff (check lifehacker.com for examples) And from there just install it.
If you are looking for directions, step by step… then go to www.lifehacker.com and search for "Kalyway leopard".
Here is what I have so far on my dual screen:
