Is Internet becoming the counter balance to TV News agendas?
As we all know, News media is being manipulated by governments, so the question is: why don’t they push back as hard? Why do they have to have symbiotic or in a mutual relationship with the government?
The reason is because the networks have made news division part of the cash generation machine, and based on that they have to generate a certain target of profit for them not to be punished (fired?!).
With that said, advisors do advise their newscasters / producers to invite guests that go along with the mainstream media, that way they will not be branded as a non-patriotic or lose access to the public.. or even losing ratings.
AND here comes the INTERNET and its social communities along with citizen journalism, where it acts as a counter balance by generating the momentum to put out the opposing view points.
An example of this, I’ve posted few days ago about digg community expressing their disapproval / unhappiness regarding Israel expanding their settlments in Palestine and how US should not support Israel at all. While if you turn your tv on to FOX news or MSNBC channel you will notice how they do ignore such stories or polish it to make it sound / look nicer!
