Gmail is looking to become offline app as well..

Nothing confirmed from Google "yet?", but apparently Hindustan News paper mentioned that they witnessed Gmail going offline with Google Gears. If this is true, then I will be guessing this new feature will go live sometime before the end of this year…

If you are not sure what Google Gears is, it is basically an opensource browser extension that makes it possible for developers to take their web applications offline.

But here is the main question that I cannot find answer for, is Google going to allow a user to browse all of their emails and attachments while offline? Is that even possible? Cause we are talking about 3GB worth of data and that it needs to be synced if it gets modified… I cannot see that happening, most probably the top 20 emails will go offline including the ones you select..

Do I see this taking over MS Outlook client as the preferred choice for business users? Business users? Nope. Other Users? Most definitely, if not already.

Also, I am hoping additional Google services will go offline, such as Google Docs, Picasa Web, and Blogger… That will be make things more interesting, specially if Google going to come out with their own mobile device/OS.
